A BTS video for a STNDRD magazine photo shoot with photographer Angela Marklew done in the style of a 70's main title.
GREAT GISELLE - BALLET PROJECTION
The American Ballet Company of Los Angeles commissioned this film to accompany their modernized version of GISELLE. We created a silent film with a narrative synthesized from Canto I of Dante's Inferno and the original ballet's narrative.
HAND PROCESSED FILM - VENICE BEACH
An experimental short shot on a single roll of super8 film and processed by hand using coffee grounds, OJ, and other organic substances. Originally created for a Cannibal Flower gallery group show in LA.
THE SANDMAN - SHORT FILM
A re-telling of ETA Hoffman's "The Sandman" as an exposition of how it inspired Freud's theory of "The Uncanny". Created in the style of early German Expressionist cinema (complete with visual references to Metropolis and The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari) using both digital video and 35mm still photography, and combines live action with stop motion animation. The award winning film went on to screen internationally and is used by several academics to illustrate the concept and its literary origin.
CHRYSALIS - DANCE FILM
An experimental dance film shot in Griffith Park after a fire. Inspired by the Japanese post war dance/movement style of butoh, we employed a number of in camera techniques and a very talented dancer to create a strange world of flesh and fabric.
